People always fear change. People feared electricity when it was invented, didn't they? People feared coal, they feared gas-powered engines... There will always be ignorance, and ignorance leads to fear. But with time, people will come to accept their silicon masters..Bill Gates

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Home » Services » Training » Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You can receive RegPM Certification and National Recognised Qualification (Cert IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma in Project Management) through your recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/ competency based assessment.

Applicants who have gained appropriate levels of competence through previous studies, work and life experiences may be eligible to have their competence recognised towards the qualification.

Most our qualifications are issued based upon Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).  RPL is "the acknowledgement of the skills and knowledge a person has acquired through previous project management training, work or life experience, which may be used to grant status or credit in a subject or module." www.vqa.vic.gov.au/vqa/accreditation/glossary.htm. The Department of Training and Employment says that "Your prior learning can only be recognised in formal vocational qualifications if your skills and knowledge are current and meet today's industry standards. You must be able to show your skills and have them verified."

Reply #1 on : Thu May 27, 2010, 02:21:06
I am a South African citizen living in South Africa. I presently run and am co owner of a construction company .I have in excess of 25 years experience in the construction industry basically having managed various small construction projects that we have taken on over the years. I have been self employed for the past 30 years. I have no formal qualifications. I would like to know if it is possible to get an Internationally recognised Construction Project Management qualification which would enable me to be eligible to apply to become a resident of and legally work in Australia?
