PRINCE®2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is the UK de-facto standard for project management developed by the Government and used in both the public and private sectors. The acronym stands for PRojects IN Controlled Environments - the "2" refers to its relaunched in October 1996.

PRINCE® was established in 1989 by CCTA (the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency), since renamed the OGC (the Office of Government Commerce). The method was originally based on PROMPT, a project management method created by Simpact Systems Ltd in 1975. PROMPT was adopted by CCTA in 1979 as the standard to be used for all Government information system projects. When PRINCE was launched in 1989, it effectively superseded PROMPT within Government projects. PRINCE remains in the public domain and copyright is retained by the Crown. PRINCE is a registered trademark of the UK Office of Government Commerce (OGC).

PRINCE2 is a structured method for effective management of any size or type of project. Each process is defined with its key inputs and outputs together with the specific objectives to be achieved and activities to be carried out.

It is the standard method for use in UK Government Departments and is used increasingly in the private sector, NHS and Local Government. An increasing number of overseas Governments and multi-national companies have adopted the method, or integrated it within their existing project management approaches.

PRINCE2® is a structured method for effective project management. It is not designed for effective product delivery and alone does not deliver a solution.   PRINCE2® is a project management method designed to provide a framework covering the wide variety of disciplines and activities required within a project.  

The focus throughout PRINCE2® is on the business case which describes the rationale and business justification for the project. The business case drives all the project management processes, from initial project set-up through to the finish of the project.  Thus it is there mainly there to ensure that the project has a sound basis for starting, there is sufficient governance, is planned and that there is a means of checking it has met its objectives. That PRINCE2® is about the management of the project rather than delivery of its products.

The official PRINCE2® manual is called Managing  Successful Projects with PRINCE2®, and is published by The Stationary Office (TSO) (The manual can be purchased online from Amazon and is available at some technical bookshops in Australia).

PRINCE AUSTRALIA is the wholly-owned subsidiary of The APM Group (UK) and its representative in Australia.   They carry out quality assurance for qualifications in PRINCE2 in Australasia.   PRINCE AUSTRALIA accredits PRINCE2 Training Organisations, PRINCE2 Trainers, and PRINCE2 Consultants in Australasia and administers the PRINCE2 examinations system for Project Managers to become qualified as  PRINCE2 Practitioners in Australasia and SE Asia.

I need to know about Prince2 Certification. If I will do this course then will I get a job in AUS , UK , or any European country
