Course overview The Diploma of Project Management is designed to equip participants with best practice knowledge and skill to ensure that projects are successful. This covers the competencies for those managing complex projects.

- Have major or sole responsibility for all project management functions across the entire lifecycle

Course rules/ Assessment Requirements Assessment
To be awarded a Diploma of Project Management (AQF Level 5) qualification, the following is also required:
- Have relevant work experience at an appropropriate level.
- Complete a portfolio of work-based evidence against assessment elements in the Assessment Record Book (with mentoring support available). The assessment record book captures evidence of the management and completion of a real project.
- Attend an assessment interview to present this project evidence and discuss the application of project management competencies within the workplace, and
- Complete the assessment within six months of the commencement.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
Applicants who have gained appropriate levels of competence through previous studies, work and life experiences may be eligible to have their competence recognised towards the qualification. Some qualifications are issued based upon Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL is "the acknowledgement of the skills and knowledge a person has acquired through previous training, work or life experience, which may be used to grant status or credit in a subject or module." www.vqa.vic.gov.au/vqa/accreditation/glossary.asp. The Department of Training and Employment says that "Your prior learning can only be recognised in formal vocational qualifications if your skills and knowledge are current and meet today's industry standards. You must be able to show your skills and have them verified." Please contact us for more information on the RPL process.
Articulation:
The course articulates to the Advanced Diploma of Project Management. The attainment of the Diploma of Project Management should enable you be eligible for RegPM certification as a Registered Project Manager as determined by the AIPM.
Various tertiary institutions have recognised and awarded advanced standing credit for the Diploma upon application for such qualifications as a Graduate Certificate in PM, Graduate Diploma in PM, Graduate Diploma in Business Studies, Masters in PM and MBA. You should also be eligible for RegPM certification.

Minimum Entrance requirements/ suggestions
Recommended Entrance Requirements:
- Certificate IV in Project Management or equivalent experience and a working knowledge of the PMBoK®, AIPM, AS ISO 10006:2003 or equivalent recognised PM Standards.
- Participants should currently be working as a project or program manager.
- We recommend that participants have a minimum of 5 years work experience in a project management environment and at least 2 years experience as a project/program manager in a medium to large organisation.
